Founders
The Sisters of Holy Cross Menzingen is founded in Menzingen, Canton Zug, Switzerland by Mother Bernarda Heimgartner, under the visionary guidance of Father Theodosius Florentini. The congregation is established with the mission to educate children and serve the community, laying the groundwork for future healthcare and educational initiatives globally.
The foundation of Holy Cross Hospital is deeply intertwined with the benevolent vision of Sree Moolam Thirunal Ramavarma, the Maharaja of Travancore, and the strategic collaboration with Bishop Aloysius Maria Benziger of Quilon. This partnership facilitated the arrival of the Holy Cross Sisters from Menzingen, Switzerland, to Kerala in 1906, setting a cornerstone for compassionate healthcare. The hospital, initiated with just 20 beds in 1952 on land generously donated by Bishop Jerome Fernandez of Quilon, has flourished into a 390-bed super speciality hospital, exemplifying a legacy of medical excellence and dedicated care.

Welcome to Holy Cross Hospital, which upholds a tradition of compassionate and excellent health care. Warmest wishes of good health, peace and joy to everyone. The hospital is run by sisters of the Holy Cross who pioneer modern health care service and nursing training in Government hospitals of Kerala and holds a legacy of 118 years for the same. I am proud to say that Holy Cross Hospital completed 72 years of its glorious existence in the field of health care this year.
The service of Holy Cross Hospital goes beyond medicine. It adopts newer trends in treatment, technologies, and research for advanced treatment thus bringing holistic healing to the individual patient. The hospital with all the specialties provides excellent service and bedside care at affordable cost. The committed Doctors, Sisters, Nurses, and Staff stand together to build up, protect, and nurture the teamwork, and dedicate themselves to the cause of the sick & suffering upholding the spiritual and ethical character of the Institution.
